Transforming a Lamborghini Huracán with VARNBILT MOTORSPORTS
The Project
Chris Varner of VARNBILT MOTORSPORTS recently teamed up with Auto Image, Evolution Auto Spa, and Prime Graphics Lab to transform his 2015 Lamborghini Huracán into a one-of-a-kind showcase build. The project included a full Inozetek satin black color change with Dynamic Paint Protection Film (DPPF), custom wireless Apple CarPlay integration, and a factory-style backup camera designed to blend perfectly with the OEM look.
Meet VARNBILT MOTORSPORTS
VARNBILT MOTORSPORTS specializes in creating one-of-a-kind custom vehicles and trucks, recently expanding into the exotic car market. The company focuses on serving a high-end clientele, including professional athletes, celebrities, and influential figures in the automotive world.
Known for their attention to detail and fully custom approach, VARNBILT’s builds are never just bolt-on projects. As Chris puts it:
“Everything that we do is either handmade or custom designed, custom branded. And we like to focus on the really small details that a lot of other companies and shops miss.”
A Strong Business Relationship
When asked how the partnership with our parent company Auto Image began, Chris explained that it dates back more than a decade:
“We started dealing with Auto Image maybe 12 to 14 years ago… My full-time job is working at the Causeway family dealerships and they approached us looking to do some outfits for our Ford inventory.”
Since then, the collaboration has grown steadily, spanning everything from trucks to high-performance exotics. Chris added:
“We recommend people to Auto Image all the time for audio, tint, wheels, tires, anything… They’re the only ones around I know that go above and beyond and really take care of the customer.”
Why Inozetek Dynamic Paint Protection Film?
Thanks to the team at Prime Graphics Lab, this Lamborghini received a flawless satin black finish with INOZETEK Dynamic Paint Protection Film, chosen for its combination of style and durability.
Optical-Grade Clarity – Ultra-transparent TPU delivers a crystal-clear finish without orange peel or haze.
Self-Healing Topcoat – Scratches and swirls disappear with heat exposure.
Impact & Chip Defense – 8 mil TPU construction shields against road debris and daily wear.
UV Resistance – Prevents discoloration and yellowing over time.
Installer-Friendly Design – Flexible, bubble-free application with advanced adhesive tech.
Paired with the ceramic coating applied by our team, this upgrade not only protects the Lamborghini’s paint but also enhances its sleek, modern look that elevates its presence on the road.
Factory-Style Apple CarPlay & Backup Camera
Another major enhancement was modernizing the tech inside the Huracán.
“For some unknown reason, Lamborghini didn’t include a backup camera in 2015,” Chris shared. “So one of my requests was to add Apple CarPlay and a camera as well.”
This Wireless Apple CarPlay system was an exciting, fully custom project. Using a plug-and-play module, the Auto Image team seamlessly integrated CarPlay directly into the instrument cluster, making it appear as part of the factory infotainment system. Now, all of the apps and controls sit right in front of the driver, perfectly aligned with the steering wheel for a clean, modern, and intuitive experience.
“We wanted it to look as OEM as possible, and I think we nailed it. They nailed it. If you look at the car, it looks like it came that way right from Lamborghini.”
Current Projects & The Road to SEMA
While the Lamborghini is the centerpiece, Chris and his team are also preparing for SEMA 2025 and other custom builds. Today, the Huracan continues to evolve with upgrades including an air ride suspension system, a twin-turbo setup, and more.
Alongside this project, VARNBILT is building a custom 2025 Ford F-150 for Mitchell Robinson of the New York Knicks, further proving their ability to deliver at the highest level.
“Currently we have a few things we're working on for the SEMA show and outside that. Obviously, the Lamborghini is one of them. We're getting this finished up with air ride suspension and it's getting a twin turbo kit that will take it to around 1,000 horsepower with Billet manifolds and intercoolers. It's going to be pretty wild. Then we also have a custom 2025 F-150 that we're building for Mitchell Robinson.”
What is SEMA 2025?
SEMA 2025, the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show, will take place November 4–7, 2025, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Widely considered the premier event in the automotive aftermarket industry, SEMA brings together thousands of exhibitors, leading brands, and industry professionals from around the globe.
The event is renowned for its one-of-a-kind custom vehicle builds, trendsetting innovations, and the unmatched opportunity to network with top names in the industry. For VARNBILT MOTORSPORTS and its partners, it’s the ultimate stage to showcase their craftsmanship, creativity, and cutting-edge technology.
Project Philosophy
At its core, this build represents Chris’s personal passion as well as his company’s versatility:
“As a kid, my dream was always to own a Lamborghini… It’s kind of to showcase our all-around skills. Yeah, we can build trucks, but we can do exotic cars too. We’re not just stuck on doing just trucks.”
This Huracán is just the beginning. Chris hinted that future builds could include even bolder designs—like a red-on-red Lamborghini—cementing VARNBILT’s reputation in both the custom truck and exotic car markets.
